'All authority on heaven and earth has been given to me.' Matthew 28:18b
Great Big God"Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus has told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority on heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the ends of the age." Matthew 28:16-20 In November 2004 I made my first mission trip to Romania. It was an event that had been in my prayers and plans for six years. My heart longed for this country and it was compelling me in a way that was hard to describe. I felt sure that I had God's calling on my life and so, I went. I will never forget the night I arrived, after a very exhausted, long trip, my greeters decided rather than taking me directly home to rest they would take me to the highest mountain in town to view my new neighbourhood. At first I didn't understand their intentions but it became clear as we quickly approached the crest with the cross high on the hill. Maybe it was fatigue, maybe it was something deeper, but I felt overcome with emotions standing next to the enormous, white cross which overlooked the entire town. I suddenly felt very small, very humbled before my great, big God. |

| As
I looked out across the city I began to notice many church spires reaching
beyond their surrounding buildings. I was in a place where God was already
at work.... He didn't need me and yet He choose to use me in His plan in
bringing His love to this city.
How lovely is our Creator, all authority is His, all things are His and yet what He longs for the most is a relationship with us... He takes us along with Him, enlarges us, strengthens us and lengthens us so that we might be made complete in Him, so that others might also know this love. |

Dear Father, Thank you that you have showed such compassion to me, that you have promised to be with me always. Help me to not hold back, but instead enlarge my understanding of you, stretch my life wide; lengthen my influence for your service and strengthen my stakes so my foundation would be firmly in you. You deserve to be praised, Lord Almighty is your name. Amen |
