Discipleship
Church in the Market Place is committed to the task of helping people get to know, love and grow in their relationship with God, themselves and with others. This page contains resources to help you grow in maturity. (You might also like to check out the ‘Exploring Christianity’ page.)
The process of growing is called ‘Discipleship’ which is the idea that believers of the good news of Jesus Christ commit themselves to the ‘discipline’ of allowing God to make them more like Jesus.
The ‘Discipleship Community’ is made up of those people who are committed to the journey of learning and growing in the 11 Discipleship Covenants that follow.
For each of the ‘Discipleship Covenants’ there is a 1 ½ hour group discussion which outlines some of the basic biblical teaching about this area, and provides you with a list of resources which might be helpful if you wish to develop in this area more.
We provide an opportunity to attend a different ‘Discipleship Conversation’ about every 2-3 weeks on a variety of times and days. (See CMP calendar for details.) You are able to attend the group discussion in any order and at any pace that suits you. You might aim to complete the discussions in anything from 6-24 months.
(Note: Please be aware that over the next year or so we are moving towards making the active participation in these Discipleship Conversations a pre-requisite for membership and leadership at CMP.)
Outlined below are the 11 Discipleship Covenants and resources that are available to help you grow in that area of discipleship. The Discipleship Covenants have been given in a logical growth order, but as already mentioned, you are free to do them in the order that suits you.
